Night Of The Disbanding Ceremony is the third chapter ofShingeki no Kyojin manga written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama.
Summary
The chapter opens at the closing of the graduation ceremony. The graduates are told to apply for their assignments the next day and with that, the 104th Trainees Squad is disbanded.
In the cafeteria, Jean and Marco are celebrating being in the top ten and joining the Military Police. While Marco tries to be polite about it, Jean is blunt; describing the outer wall town as a "stinkhole" and wanting to live in the peace and comfort of the Inner District. After more boasting, Bertolt and Annie say they will apply for the Military Police too, with the latter making sure Jean knows that their similarities end there. Jean's outburst rubs Eren the wrong way, who then points out their difference in motives and military paths. A fight ensues, with Mikasa soon breaking it up and taking Eren outside.
A brief conversation between the two reveals that whatever division Eren applies to, Mikasa will do the same. Eren insists that she apply to the Military Police, but Mikasa says that he'll die very quickly if she isn't around and that she doesn't want to lose any more of her family. Armin joins them outside and tells them of his intention to join the Survey Corps. Despite Eren attempting to change his mind, Armin expresses his resolve.

Soon after, they are reunited with Hannes, who expresses his regret at not being able to save their parents but is happy to see them nonetheless. Hannes then reveals that before any of them were born, his wife along with many others in the town had fallen ill. Dr.Yeager delivered the antibody that saved everyone and he had wished to return the favor. At Hannes's request, Eren attempts to remember his father's last known location which causes him to collapse with a splitting headache. A flash of memory shows Dr. Yeager trying to inject something into Eren. He then wakes up in his bunk, unsure what the flash was and with his friends standing over him, asking if he is alright.
In the outermost town, life seems to be bustling, to the amazement of Eren's companions. While on top of a wall, Eren finds out Connie is joining the Survey Corps as well, though he asserts it was only because he didn't want to be same division as Jean. Sasha joins them on the wall and shows them a ration of meat she stole from the officers provisions, offering to share it with them later. Despite initial hesitation and fear of potential consequences, most of them take her up on the offer.
Eren thinks back to the day at the water with Armin and Mikasa, remembering the conversation of venturing into the outside world. After losing one third of its territory and half of its population, humanity will strike back; he vows to himself. Seemingly out of nowhere, the Colossal Titan appears and Eren and his companions get blown off of the wall. They are able to recover using their Three Dimensional Maneuver Gear, with the exception of Samuel who is quickly saved by Sasha.
With the Colossal Titan destroying another wall, Eren recalls the day his mother died and the vow he made to wipe them out. Mustering his courage, Eren takes charge and coordinates the group for a counter attack on the Colossal Titan.
